Auto/Mate Conquers the Workforce Team Challenge

Auto/Mate employees have been long-time participants in the Workforce Team Challenge, a local 3.5-mile road race that allows us to demonstrate a commitment to our community while having fun in the process! Last week, 21 Auto/Mate employees, including a couple of first timers, ran for a good cause in the Capital District Physicians Health Plan (CDPHP) Workforce Challenge, an event that draws over 10,000 participants every year.

It was a beautiful day in Albany. In fact, the only sunny day we had all week! Everyone crossed the finish line, including our CEO Mike Esposito who was sporting a pair of jeans. He’s always been a trendsetter!

The CDPHP Workforce Challenge raises money to benefit the Hudson-Mohawk Road Runners Club, a not-for-profit 501(c)(3), as well as two local charities that are selected annually as the charities of choice.

This year’s charities include the Family Promise of the Capital Region (FPCR), a family assistance and homeless prevention program. FPCR’s intent is not to re-house families, but to help them solve problems that can lead to chronic homelessness, such as the lack of health care, good jobs, affordable childcare and access to educational programs.

The Albany Damien Center is a resource center designed to improve health, reduce stress and increase the quality of life for individuals living with HIV/AIDS throughout the Capital Region. Donations from the 2019 CDPHP® Workforce Team Challenge will benefit the Smart Meals “Hands-On Healthy Living” Program: a hands-on, inclusive and seasonal/themed monthly education class to teach people living with HIV/AIDS proper nutrition, safe meal preparation and healthy lifestyle skills.

Congratulations to Team Auto/Mate for helping to support these charities!
